Keep your mattress clean and do not allow spills or water in your mattress. Do not use dry cleaning fluid of any type on your mattress as these chemicals could damage the comfort and upholstery materials.
The Better Sleep Council advises consumers to buy the highest-quality bedding they can afford, then replace old bedding every eight to ten years, sometimes longer depending on the quality. After this many years, even the best bedding may no longer provide the comfort and support you deserve.
Standard industry mattress depth is 7 inches. However, mattresses have gotten a lot deeper in the last decade or so. The popularity of the pillow top mattress has led to depths up to 24 inches, not including the box spring. When purchasing a mattress, remember to think of the mattress height in combination with the height of the bed itself. For those who have trouble climbing up, a shallower mattress may be the best option.
BoxDrop provides various
Mattress Types for your needs including but not limited to; Innerspring & Economy Mattresses, Foam & Memory Foam Mattresses, Adjustable Mattress & Frames, Pillow Top Mattresses & Hybrid Mattresses.
Mattresses come in a standard array of sizes, with some variations in shape or composition.
- Twin Mattresses measure 39 inches by 75 inches. College dorms commonly have Twin XL Mattresses that are 5 inches longer than normal twin mattresses. Daybed and trundle mattresses are the same size as twin beds.
- Full Mattresses are 54 inches by 75 inches
- Queen Mattresses are 60 inches by 80 inches
- King Mattresses are 78 inches by 80 inches & California King Mattresses, the largest commercial standard mattresses, measure 72 inches by 84 inches.
There are several factors to take into consideration when deciding if you need a new mattress. Below are some signs that your mattress has lost its support: 1. You tend to sleep better at other places than at home. Your mattress shows visible signs of wear (saggy or lumpy). Rotating your mattress no longer provides the desired comfort change. Your mattress is 5-8 years old (this depends of the type of mattress and longevity) You wake up tires or achy.
Here is a list of questions to ask yourself before purchasing a mattress to determine what mattress types are best for you:
- Do you tend to sleep better when you are colder or warmer?
- Do you usually sleep on your back, sides, or even your stomach?
- Are there any accommodations you have when sleeping (Sleep Apnea mask, sleep disorders, RLS, etc.)
- Do you have chronic back/limb pain OR do you wake up in pain after sleeping?
- Do you prefer the firmness of coil (innerspring) mattresses or the softness of foam mattresses or toppers?
- Certain mattress materials (are you allergic to latex?)
- Are you buying a mattress just for you OR do you have a partner accompanying you in your sleep?
- What body type/shape do you have? (certain mattresses may be better for your body)
- Do you prefer to sleep at an upright position as opposed to a flat position?
